The chapel from the 12th century, a stunning example of Norman architecture, is Palermo's top attraction. Description:
Roger II commissioned the Cappella Palatina in 1130, bringing Greek artists to Sicily for this purpose. Inside, it captivates with splendid mosaics that illustrate stories from the Old Testament and highlight Palermo's significant role in the Crusades. A highlight is the representation of Christ Pantocrator. Also noteworthy is the stunning muqarnas ceiling – a masterpiece of Arabic art – and the beautiful marble inlays that showcase Islamic aesthetics.
